Medicare rebates are available to many individuals seeking psychological services. Individuals seeking psychological services are recommended to first discuss their eligibility for such a referral (often termed a “mental health care plan”) with their GP. Under these plans, individuals may be eligible for Medicare rebates for up to 10 sessions in a calendar year.

Many doctors require a longer session to make a referral to a psychologist under Medicare, so please let your GP's receptionist know the reason for your visit when you phone to make an appointment.

Rebates may be available from Private Health Insurers for individuals who are ineligible for Medicare plans or following the conclusion of the 10 Medicare-funded sessions.

Please bring any referrals or mental health plans with you to your first appointment.
